چکیده
Non-photorealistic rendering has become an important research topics in computer graphics in recent years. We have previously proposed a non-photorealistic rendering method to generate Suibokuga-like images of trees. This method was suitable only for representing trees in Mokkotsuho paintings because the images were generated from three-dimensional skeleton data. In this paper, we propose a method to generate Suibokugalike images of arbitrary objects from three-dimensional geometric models, such as polygonal models. The proposed method realizes Kou, Ten, and Shun brush stroke techniques for creating Sensenbyoho paintings, which are a typical Suibokuga style for representing landscapes. Moreover, the images can be generated from arbitrary viewpoints and light source information. The ability of this method is demonstrated by showing

Simple cellular automaton-based simulation of ink behaviour and its application to Suibokuga-like 3D rendering of trees
Suibokuga is a style of monochrome painting characterized by the use of Chinese black ink (sumi), a complex interaction between brush, ink and paper, and such visual features as Noutan (shade), Kasure (scratchiness), and Nijimi (blur). In this paper we present a simple behavioural model of water and ink particles based on a 2D cellular automaton computational model, and its application to a Sui...
متن کاملImage-Based Rendering using Image-Warping – Motivation and Background
The field of three-dimensional computer graphics has long focused on the problem of synthesizing images from geometric models. These geometric models, in combination with surface descriptions characterizing the reflective properties of each element, represent the scene that is to be rendered. Computationally, the classical computer-graphics image synthesis process is a simulation problem in whi...
متن کاملChapter 1 MULTIRESOLUTION MODELING OF THREE - DIMENSIONAL SHAPES
Manipulation of models of complex three-dimensional shapes is common in computer graphics and virtual reality, computer-aided-design, geographic information systems, medicine, etc. In this chapter, we deal with geometric models based on spatial decompositions, also known as geometric meshes. A mesh is an aggregate of a finite number of basic entities, called cells. When a mesh is used to descri...

متن کاملAn Overview of Rendering from Volume Data | including Surface and Volume Rendering
Volume rendering is a title often ambiguously used in science. One meaning often quoted is: `to render any three volume dimensional data set'; however, within this categorisation \surface rendering" is contained. Surface rendering is a technique for visualising a geometric representation of a surface from a three dimensional volume data set. A more correct deenition of Volume Rendering would on...
